Walk in Shanghai – Jinze Ancient Town
Jinze (金泽镇) is a town located in Qingpu District of Shanghai, just 15 kilometers southwest of Zhujiajiao Ancient Town (朱家角镇; lit. ‘Zhu Family Corner’). The area of the town is 108.49 square kilometers (41.89 square miles).
The town is bordered by two provinces, namely Zhejiang and Jiangsu. With convenient land and water transportation, it is an important transport hub linking Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu.
Jinze Ancient Town has a long history. In 978, it used to be in the territory of Northern Song Empire (960–1127) under the jurisdiction of Huating County (华亭县).
