Walk along Shanghai Century Avenue

Century Avenue (世纪大道; Shi Ji Da Dao) is a major road in Pudong New District of Shanghai, with a total length of 5.5 kilometers, starting from Century Park (世纪公园) in the east to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower (东方明珠电视塔) in Lujiazui in the west.

The width of Century Avenue is 100 meters, with a 31-meter wide carriageway. The asymmetrical design of the road, with a 69-meter sidewalk and greenway, is wider than the carriageway and was designed by Charles de France.

Two sculpture plazas were built at the intersection of Laoshan West Road and Yanggao South Road, and time related sculptures and decorations, including “Light of the East”, “Morning Light of the Century” hourglass and sundial, were placed in the plazas and along the road to match the theme.
