Walk in Shanghai – Xiasha Town
Xiasha Town (下沙镇), a town under the jurisdiction of Pudong New District, Shanghai.
The town has a long history. During the Three Kingdoms period (220 – 280 AD), Lu Xun, the famous prime minister of what is now Suzhou City, once raised cranes here.
During the Southern Song Dynasty, the town was already a market town, and was loved by the people for its noble and auspicious symbol, the crane.
There were also many scholars and writers who settled here, making it a place of humanities.
