Walk in Shanghai – Gongqing Forest Park
Gongqing Forest Park is the second-largest park in the city of Shanghai. It is located in the Yangpu District in the north section of the city.
Gongqing Forest Park was originally called Gongqing Nursery and changed its name to the present in 1986.
Gongqing Forest Park is formed by the Huangpu River tidal flat swamp. In 1956, wasteland was reclaimed and nursery was established.
Gongqing Forest Park is divided into the South Park and the North Park. We usually go to the North Park, and many people forget to go to the Wanzhu Park in the South Park. We are also walking in the North Park this time. And today happens to be China’s traditional solar term: Gu Yu.
Gongqing Forest Park was officially approved as a national forest park by the State Forestry Administration in January 2006, and was named “Shanghai Gongqing National Forest Park”.
To reach the park you can take line 8 on the metro to Shiguang Road. From the metro station the park is a less than 1 km; walk or take a very short taxi ride to it.
