Walk in Shanghai – Festive Atmosphere on Daxue Road

During the Autumn Festival and National Day, some of Shanghai’s most popular streets get busy.

National Day (国庆节; lit. ‘national celebration day’) is a public holiday celebrated annually on 1 October as the national day of the People’s Republic of China. It usually celebrated for seven consecutive days and also known as Golden Week (黄金周).

We head to Daxue Road in Shanghai’s Yangpu district, where costumed actors add to the festive atmosphere.

Daxue Road (大学路; University Road) is a boulevard with a strong fashionable and exotic atmosphere, and has become a leisure place. It starts from Zhixing Road in the east and ends at Guoding Road in the west, with a length of 700 meters.
