Walk in Mikane Jinja Shrine – Kyoto, Japan

Mikane Jinja (御金神社) is a Shinto shrine located in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto, Japan.

The shrine is decorated with golden torii gate.

As a shrine related to metals, especially money, many ginkgo-shaped ema (votive tablet) are dedicated to prayers for success in asset management and securities trading, as well as for victory in horse and bicycle racing and winning the lottery, etc.

The shrine was built and enshrined in a private residence as a mansion shrine, but people kept coming to pray to the deities because of their connection to metals.

The shrine was located on Ryogae-cho-dori, where many gold and silversmiths from all over the country lived and minted gold coins for the Edo shogunate.
