Day Road Trip to Mount Lemmon and Hike – Tucson, AZ, USA

I’m going to take a day trip to Mt. Lemon located near near the city of Tucson in Arizona and hike to the top of the mountain.

Mount Lemmon, with a summit elevation of 9,159 feet (2,792 m), is the highest point in the Santa Catalina Mountains. It is located in the Coronado National Forest north of Tucson, Arizona, United States.

Mount Lemmon was named for botanist Sara Plummer Lemmon, who trekked to the top of the mountain with her husband and E. O. Stratton, a local rancher, by horse and foot in 1881. Mount Lemmon is also known as Babad Do’ag, or Frog Mountain to the Tohono O’odham.

This mountain is probably one of the most unique places I have ever explored in my life I have ever explored in my life. It’s a changeable landscape.

At the base of this mountain it is pure Arizona desert, blistering heat. Then, 30 minutes later, at the top of the mountain is lush pine forests.

Due to the elevation change from the bottom to the top, the summit of the mountain can be twenty to thirty degrees cooler than the base.
