Walking in Shanghai – Huangpi South Road, Yongnian Road

Huangpi South Road was originally called Emeishan Road and was built in 1901 by the Shanghai French Concession Public Management Bureau.

In 1906, the Public Board of Directors renamed it Rue Amiral Bayle, named after the French navy officer.

In 1943, the government of Wang Jingwei took over the concession and renamed it Nanhuangpi Road in Huangpi County, Hubei Province.

In 1946, it was renamed Huangpi South Road.

Huangpi County, Hubei Province is the hometown of Li Yuanhong, President of the Republic of China. Many cities have Huangpi Road in memory of President Lebanon.
