Walk through Caoyang Centennial Park, Shanghai
Caoyang Centennial Park is a linear pedestrian park located in Shanghai’s Putuo District.
The park is about 1 kilometer long from Caoyang Road in the north to Zhongshan North Road in the south and is crossed in the middle by Lanxi Road. It is divided into upper, middle and lower levels.
It was originally a section of freight railroad, then transformed into a farmer’s market, then re-planned and constructed into a multi-level, composite walking experience community park.
It retains the original railroad tracks and market signage, as well as adding new designs and elements to give it an atmosphere that blends the old with the new.
The idea of creating a park arose thanks to The High Line park in New York and Seoullo 7017 park in Seoul.
