Azure-winged Magpie on a Stump

Azure-winged magpie is a bird in the crow family. The bird is shaped like a Eurasian magpie but is more slender with proportionately smaller legs and bill.

Feature:
The body length is 33~37 cm. Iris brown. Mouth black. Feet black.
Hermaphrodites are of the same color. The top of the head, the side of the face and the back pillow of the adult bird are black.

The shoulders and upper back are gray-blue, the wings, lower back and tail feathers are sky-blue, the tail is long, almost equal to the rest of the body, and the end is white. Throat, neck, chest, and abdomen are white.

The juvenile bird has dirty white feathers on the black part of the head, and the tail feathers are shorter.

Distributed:
Russia, Mongolia, Korea, Japan, China. It is an introduced bird species in Taiwan.
