Walking in Shanghai – Yuyuan Garden

Yu Garden or Yuyuan Garden is an extensive Chinese Garden. It abuts the Yuyuan Tourist Mart, the Huxinting Teahouse and the Yu Garden Bazaar.

Yuyuan Garden was originally a private garden. It was built in the Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 400 years.

The owner of the garden, Sichuan ambassador, Pan Yunduan, built a garden on a few amaranth fields on the west side of the Shichun Hall in the Pan family’s house from 1559 (Jin Jiajing’s second year). After more than 20 years of painstaking management, Yuyuan Garden was completed.

The interior layout of Yuyuan Garden has the characteristics of oriental garden architecture.

Yuyuan Garden is a key tourist attraction in Shanghai. Everyone has the opportunity to visit. Yuyuan’s annual meetings are also extremely grand, attracting tourists from all sides.
