Walk in Shanghai – Zhuanghang Ancient Town
Zhuanghang Town (Original name: Zhuangjiahang; Chinese name: Zhuangxing) is in Fengxian District, is a suburban district in the south of Shanghai.
Zhuanghang Town has a long history and profound cultural heritage. It has become a village in the Song Dynasty. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, had become a small market town.
At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, the Zhuang family moved in and opened the Rice Shop, which was named after the Zhuangjiahang, so it is called Zhuanghang Town.
The old street of Zhuanghang was built in the Ming Dynasty, is about 1000 meters long. With the development of the ages, there has not been much change here. Except for a new street that traverses the old street.
The old street is divided into West Street and East Street. The local government of Zhuanghan once wanted to build this into a tourist area and renovated East Street. The West Street still maintains the water town style of the Ming Dynasty.
