Walk in Shanghai – Xinhua Road

Xinhua Road is a street in Changning District, Shanghai. From Kaixuan Road in the west to Huaihai West Road in the east. It is 2434 meters long.

Xinhua Road was originally called Fahua Road, named after the 1,000-year-old Fahua Zen Temple in the ancient town of Fahua Town to its north. Two ginkgo trees from the Northern Song Dynasty still exist at the site of the former Fahua Zen Temple. Therefore, there is a saying that “Fahua first existed and then Shanghai was established”.

Xinhua Road and Panyu intersection were the five-star Shanghai Studios, which was the Columbia Riding School in the 1930s.
