Strolling in Gansu – Tianshui Maiji Mountain

Gansu (甘肃) is a province of the People’s Republic of China, located in the northwest of the country.

Maiji Mountain is located about 35 kilometers southeast of Tianshui City, Gansu Province. It is a round peak in the Xiaotun Mountain in the west of the Qinling Mountains. It is 1,742 meters above sea level, but the height of the mountain is only 142 meters from the ground. The shape of the mountain is strange, and the shape of the mountain is like a wheat raft. Therefore, some people call it Maiji Mountain.

Built over 1,500 years ago, the Maijishan Grottoes (also known as Maijishan Caves or Maiji Caves) is a series of Buddhist caves and niches carved into the nearly sheer face of a sandstone mountain.
