Ruddy Shelduck – Bird Sound
The ruddy shelduck, known in India as the Brahminy duck, is a member of the family Anatidae.
Feature:
Male and female body color is similar. The body length is 58-70 cm. Iris dark brown. Mouth black. Feet black.
The male bird is roughly orange-yellow from top to bottom, lighter in color from the head to the upper neck, a small black ring on the neck of the breeding feathers, black primary flight feathers, white upper and lower wing coverts, and black tail and upper tail coverts.
The female bird is slightly smaller than the male bird, the head to the upper neck is nearly white, and there is no small black collar.
The immature bird resembles an adult bird, but the head, neck and back are gray-brown.
Distributed:
Breeds in northwestern Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, Mongolia, and northeastern China; migrates to southern India, southern Japan, the Korean Peninsula, Central China, South China, and Indochina Peninsula in winter. Occasionally appear in Taiwan.
