Kitesurfing & Flamingos – El Cuyo, Yucatan, Mexico

Yucatan, officially the Free and Sovereign State of Yucatan, is one of the 32 states which comprise the Federal Entities of Mexico.

El Cuyo is a small fishing village 270 km from Merida, the capital of the state of Yucatan, and is an attractive tourist spot on the eastern end of the Yucatan coast of the Gulf of Mexico.

This fishing village is located in the Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve.

Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, known for its flamingos, sea turtles that lay eggs here and more than 250 species of birds.

We discovered this little piece of paradise and it has done nothing but endear us to it. From the wild Flamingos to the wonderful sand beaches to the great little local food joints we really fell in love in this place.
