Denver Zoo Celebrates the Year of the Tiger – Colorado, US
Lunar New Year is one of the most important times of year in Asian culture, and signals the start of spring and the beginning of a new year.
Among numerous Asian countries that are deeply rooted in Lunar New Year celebrations and traditions, Vietnam and Mongolia have a special place in Denver Zoo’s heart through a commitment to supporting local conservation in these areas.
The Year of the Tiger has begun, and here at Denver Zoo, we celebrated with some very special enrichment for Yuri, one of our critically endangered Amur tigers.
Keepers and volunteer Salo de la Torre went all out with this enrichment which included photos of our tigers, intricately woven paper chains, baskets and lanterns, as well as an impressive cardboard dragon that was sprayed with one of Yuri’s favorite scents.
