Black-faced Bunting in Nature
The black-faced bunting is a passerine bird in the bunting family Emberizidae, a group now separated by most modern authors from the finches, Fringillidae.
The genus name Emberiza is from Old German Embritz, a bunting. The specific spodocephala is from Ancient Greek spodos, “ashes”, and kephalos, “headed”.
Feature:
Body length 16 cm. Iris dark brown. The upper mouth is dark, the lower mouth is pink, and the tip of the mouth is dark. Feet pinkish brown.
The breeding plumage of the male bird is dark gray on the head, back pillow, neck, and throat, with a hint of olive green; the base of the bill, the eyes, and the face are gray and black; the upper back and shoulders are olive green with a hint of reddish brown, and the lower back, waist, and tail coverts Brown, with black vertical stripes; two outer tail feathers are white, and the rest of the tail feathers are brown; wings are brown, with white edges on the two coverts; the chest and flanks are light sulfur color, with black vertical stripes, and the belly and lower tail coverts are white.
There are no black eyes, there are chestnut markings on the top of the head, ear feathers and face, and the eyebrow line is light.
The breeding feathers of the female bird are gray on the top of the head, back pillow and neck. There are dark brown vertical stripes on the top of the head. The eyebrow line and cheek stripes are slender and yellowish white. The cheek stripes extend upward behind the ear feathers and connect to the eyebrow line. The ear feathers are brown and the feather rachis is black.
The throat, chest and flanks are yellow, with brown vertical spots on the sides of the chest and flanks; the back is similar to the breeding plumage of the male bird. The non-breeding feathers of the female bird have gray-brown vertical stripes on the top of the head, light brown eyebrow lines and cheek lines, gray-brown ear feathers, and light yellow throat, chest and flanks.

Siberia, Japan, Korean Peninsula, India, Myanmar, Nepal, China, Indochina, Taiwan and other places.
