Autumn Walk in Shanghai – Jiangwan New Town Wetland

This wetland is located in Yangpu District, Shanghai. Originally the site of Shanghai’s Jiangwan Airport, the airport moved out and the land was returned to the local government.

In the era when China’s real estate could make a lot of money, the government decided to open up the land to real estate, but under the strong persuasion of some knowledgeable people, the government preserved some of the original wetlands, which is what we now see as the Jiangwan Wetland, which is called the green lungs of Shanghai by the people of Shanghai.
