Autumn Walk along East Jinling Road in Shanghai

East Jinling Road (金陵东路) is an east-west road in the central-eastern part of Huangpu District, Shanghai, starting from Zhongshan East Second Road in the east and ending at South Xizang Road in the west, with a total length of 1,402 meters.

The road was built in 1860 by the Shanghai French Concession Management Road Committee, and was originally called “Consulate Road” (French: Rue du Consulat) because of its proximity to the French Consulate in Shanghai.

It was renamed Jinling Road in October 1943 and changed to the present name in December 1945.

East Jinling Road is now mostly residential and office buildings, with many stores along the street on the first floor of the cavalcade.
