Walk from Ngoc Son Temple in Hanoi, Vietnam
In this video, our walk in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, will begin at Ngoc Son Temple (Đền Ngọc Sơn, 𪽛玉山), situated on a small island in Hoan Kiem Lake.
The temple was built in early 19th century, originally dedicated to “Three Sages” Wenchang Dijun, Guan Yu and Lü Dongbin. At some point, the national hero, Trần Hưng Đạo, was incorporated into the temple.
After visiting the temple, we’ll take a leisurely stroll along the Hoan Kiem Lake, enjoying the atmosphere with locals out in the street.
Next, we’ll make our way to the French Quarter, where we’ll see some of the city’s colonial history. We’ll then continue our journey to the St. Joseph Cathedral, an example of Gothic architecture in the heart of the city.
Finally, we’ll wrap up our tour by visiting the vibrant and chaotic Old Quarter. This quarter is considered the heart of Hanoi where the narrow streets are roughly arranged by trade. We’ll explore the maze-like streets and bustling markets filled with local vendors selling everything from traditional crafts to street food.
The night market near the Đồng Xuân Market is just getting started as we finish our walking tour again walking down to the Hoan Kiem Lake.
