Hanoi from Above
Hanoi (Hà Nội) is the capital and second-most populous city of Vietnam. The name “Hanoi” translates to “inside the river” (Hanoi is bordered by the Red and Black Rivers).
As a municipality, Hanoi consists of 12 urban districts, 17 rural districts, and one district-level town.
With its tree-fringed boulevards, more than two dozen lakes and thousands of French colonial-era buildings, Hanoi is a popular tourist destination.
The tourist destinations in Hanoi are generally grouped into two main areas: the Old Quarter and the French Quarter(s).
Since 2014, the city has consistently been voted in the world’s top ten destinations by TripAdvisor. It ranked eighth in 2014, fourth in 2015 and eighth in 2016.
