Walking Tour of Confucius’ Hometown in Qufu, China
Qufu (曲阜) is a county-level city in southwestern of Shandong Province and northeast of Jining City (济宁市), eastern China.
This is the former capital of the State of Lu (魯; c. 1042 – 249 BC) in ancient China and the hometown of Confucius (孔子; c. 551 – c. 479 BCE), a Chinese philosopher of the Spring and Autumn period.
His philosophical teachings, called Confucianism, emphasized personal and governmental morality, harmonious social relationships, righteousness, kindness, sincerity, and a ruler’s responsibilities to lead by virtue.
