Walk in Shanghai – Artspace Yangpu Riverfront
If we look back at the history, Yangpu district is an important industrial area of Shanghai, with more than 300 old industrial factories, such as Shanghai Machine Manufacturing Bureau, Ruiji Yarn Factory, Rui Rong Shipyard and Yang Shupu Water Factory, built in the 19th and 20th centuries, witnessing the rise of Shanghai’s modern industry.
With the development of the city in the 1990s, the factories in the Yangpu riverfront area gradually retired from the historical stage.
As an important part of Shanghai along the Huangpu River, and the renovated art space emerged from the desolation of the old factories. Today, Yangpu Riverfront has become an art space where the century-old industrial civilization and modern art merge.
