Azaleas in Godaisontsutsuji Park – Ogose, Saitama, Japan
Godaisontsutsuji Park in Ogose Town, Saitama Prefecture, has about three hectares and is planted with more than 10 types of azaleas and about 10,000 azaleas. It is widely known as one of the best azalea spots in the Kanto region.
Azaleas are flowering shrubs in the genus Rhododendron, particularly the former sections Tsutsuji and Pentanthera. Azaleas bloom in the spring, their flowers often lasting several weeks. Shade tolerant, they prefer living near or under trees. They are part of the family Ericaceae.
